I have always enjoyed knitting so I decided to challenge myself with something new… knitting toys! Crayons and Milk will be a photo blog documenting my cute and sometimes delicious toys that I’ve knitted! I am constantly in search of patterns and would love to share this passion with all of you! My ultimate goal is to be able to write my own patterns and design my own toys. I hope to accomplish this after learning anything and everything I could ever learn about knitting!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love it Edna, I’m so proud of you for knitting your life away :) Awesome photos too!!! Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see MOREEEEEE!!!!!!! :D
you have fabulous knitted toy collections! if only i have your patience in knitting them (i always feel dreaded to knit anything that required some sewing on its finishing stage–yeah, i’m lazy that way *sigh*)
i love how you so generous in sharing the patterns and the links, or the tips and tricks, cool!
anyway, thanks for stopping by and following my blog, have a great knitting time :)
-Opi
Thank you for your wonderful comment!!! Whenever I find something cool online, it motivates me to make it or alter it so it’s my own version! Knitting does take a lot of patience :( which is why I am constantly in search of what’s out there so I can keep trying something new :D Thank you again for commenting!
Darling I love your blog! It’s gorgeous!
Thank you for dropping by!!! :D
They are really fun. I’m sure you will be creating even more including your own designs. Someone said “Knitting is’t just wool you know”. I think he was introducing other materials. But your goodies are good.
All the best

Thank you for the motivation! :)
What a talent you are, love your work! The livingroom set is too cute, I love all things ‘mini.’ I’m a crocheter, but admire any craftmeister’s creations! Thanks for checking out the Bridal Handkerchief I made for my daughter, glad it’s done because the little hook and thin thread are no friend to my eyes!
Thank you for stopping by my blog! All I do on WordPress is try to find anything and everything related to knitting/crochet and i’m glad I saw your handkerchief! It’s very delicate and pretty. Your daughter will love it and it’ll be totally worth it! :D
Lovely blog. You’re very talented!
awww thank you for visiting :)
This sounds like fun – so going to follow along!
Thanks for the support!!!!!!
Nice profile pic! I don’t knit so good, it’s still the basics for me. So knitting toys is a wonder to me. Thanks for the like on my blogpost.
I love the photography on your blog and thank you for dropping by! :) I’m new to knitting toys and so far it’s been a fun journey discovering new things along the way! :D
Hi, your blog is INSANELY good!!! My jaw is literally on the floor….Awesome, I love it. I have yet to browse through your entire blog but you already had me with the cutesy lounge furniture…..delicious is too right!! Thanks for liking my post, its very encouraging!
HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I can say that ALL of my toys are my own creations but i’m very slowly starting to come up with my own stuff… and hopefully one day i’ll be knitting only my toys.. but meanwhile, I still love knitting all the wonderful patterns out there! :D Thanks again for your wonderful comments!!!!!!! YAY TO KNITTING and spreading the love :D
Your knitting is amazing! I just started knitting this last winter and I was excited about the few basic stitches I learned. :) I am very impressed with your creations!
Thank you for visiting and your wonderful comment!! If you are ever interested in knitting toys, check out the Resources page! :D :D :D Happy knitting!!! Oh, I also mentioned a couple of books in the Resrouces section that has great illustrations of the different type of stitch patterns!
Thank you!
This is a great blog!!! I crochet, but I am hoping to learn to knit. Do you have pointers for people wanting to start?
Ooo I definitely recommend the site http://www.knittinghelp.com because they have videos! Also, whenever i’m stuck with instructions, Youtube amazingly has a lot of videos as well! Tension of the yarn is really important for knitting so practicing how you hold the needles and how you wrap the yarn around your fingers is a good start :D I taught a group of 10 year olds how to knit and i’m sure you’ll master it in no time!!! Good luck!!! I’m not sure about crochet, but in knitting there are only 2 type of stitches, Knit and Purl. There are MANY ways to cast on but my favourite is the long tail cast on, I use this method for EVERYTHING.
I like how well you give your creations personality. I enjoy seeing different methods of aplying structure to an object.
Thank you! I really want to bring people together with knitting so I gave my toys names and personalities to lure all of you guys in! hahaha :D :D
Thanks for liking my knitting blog post. My comment here will appear from my other blog. I don’t seem to be able to switch from one to the other very easily.
I love your knitting here and really enjoy your Funny Monday posts!!! I’ve borrowed one to repost.
Thank you for stopping by! I JUST checked out Max the mouse and HE IS SO CUTE!! HE matches his bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for visiting the Valley Grange site and liking the post about our Yarn Drive… We have a group of knitters producing mittens for the local schools and Santa fund… one has set a goal of making 1000 pair this year! I plan to mention your blog in the near future–many grange ladies love to knit and are often looking for projects!
WOW 1000 pairs!!! I hope they will reach their goal and surpass it! Thank you for sharing my passion and happy knitting! :D
Thanks for readingl
I loved the picture of Harper on your recent post, her dress is SOOOOO adorable!!! Thanks for visiting!
I love your work! I am so losing focus on what I’m working on!
awww don’t worry, I lose focus as well! That’s why I find something that I really want to knit and that in turn motivates me =p Lionel’s head got quite complicated and I lost track of my stitches and had to take out a piece of paper and do some math!!! But I kept looking at the pattern picture and seeing how cute he’ll turn out and just kept going! Take your time with each project and take baby steps! Happy knitting and good luck!!!! :D
Looking at all your wonderful pieces was causing me to lose focus LOL. I had to get outta your place and get back to what I was working on. I could spend entire days admiring other people’s work and the diligence and attention to detail that went into it.
oh man, i totally misread your comment! Keep enjoying my blog! hahaha
[…] discovered our site and the information about our Mitten Project and Yarn Drive… “Crayons and Milk” is a resource that might be of interest to those who love to knit… you’ll find […]
They are so adorable! I love to knit too and have been knitting almost 3 years now. I can’t wait to see more!
Welcome to the knitting world!!! I loved the photo magnets on your blog! I didn’t know that you knitted as well. What do you enjoy knitting?
Oh thank you! The magnets were super easy to make. I enjoy knitting mostly sweaters. I’ve made toys for my son with crochet too. Right now I’m working on summer dress for my nieces. Are you a Ravelry member? It’s fun place for a knitter. They have many free patterns.
I recently joined Ravelry! It is such an organized site and it is very very fun indeed! I spent a lot of time just randomly searching for new ideas and fun projects!!
I’ve always wanted to knit myself a dress but big projects like that feel overwhelming! Happy knitting! Can’t wait to see the dress, hope you will post pictures :D
Oh no, the dress is for my nieces, age 2 and 4, so it’s pretty quick to knit (only if my little one let me…)
I’m like you, I’ve always knit something for myself but never done it yet. :)
The biggest project was sweater for my husband, and I don’t think I’d do it again. Lol.
I will definitely post some pics when it’s done.
Have a wonderful day! :))
I hope your husband wears that sweater every winter! hahaha I once knitted a scarf for my friend but she never wore it!!!! *angry face*
Your creations are super cute!!
Thank you! I will make sure to let my toys know that you think they’re cute :D
Thank you so much for stopping by and “liking” my blog. I am so happy to have found yours. It is simply ADORABLE! I am going to pass your site along to a knitting friend of mine…I know she will love it!
Thank you for spreading the love! :D I love to organize as well but it must be tough to help others because we get so attached to “stuff”. :D

Hey, fellow Canuck, I think you could write a children’s book . . . illustrate it with your critters.
HIIIIi Happy Canada’s Day!!! I use to enjoy writing children’s stories as a hobby! But I never enjoyed writing the endings so I have a lot of unfinished stories! But the little toys do inspire me, I like bringing them to life!
love knitting too, just have no skill there!!! Thanks for the visit
*high five to knitting*! Thanks for visiting as well!
Hello there!
Thanks for visiting my blog :)
Your knitted toys are sweet and amazing. Do you sell patterns? Maybe I’ll attempt to knit a toy one day when I am a more confident knitter.
I see you’re a fellow Canadian (we are based in the UK – my husband is British, but we try to go back to Canada once every or every other year to visit family)- HAPPY CANADA DAY!
Happy knitting!
Hi!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for your comment!! The toys I knit are based on the patterns that I’ve found online or in a book. I’ve written a pattern for the knitted Android and the banana peels, which are available on this blog for free =p I’m still learning more skills and hopefully one day i’ll create my own toys and learn to write more professional patterns! And HAPPY CANADA DAY!!! Sadly, I’ve NEVER been to the UK!!! :(.
You really make beautiful items! I promise never to feature you on my blog! LOL
THANK YOU!!!! hahaha I hope you don’t mean ‘never’!!!!! =p

PS: are you on Ravelry?
Thank you!!! What toys have you knitted before :D I joined Ravelry a couple of months ago!! I love that site and I use it to browse for ideas for my future projects! I’m not too active with updating my profile and uploading pictures and finished projects tho :( :(
Thanks for visiting my blog and liking my post :)
See you around!
Thank you for visiting my blog!!! :D
Thanks for visiting my blog. Are you ever going to know everything about knitting? I think you should make some patterns now – I am sure that you have the skills you need and you have to start somewhere. I am sure that you have plenty of people that will do a bit of tech editing for you and test your patterns. You can go from there. :)
Thanks for the encouragement!! And that’s such a great idea to get people to test out the pattern! :D Thanks for the tips! :D
One of my friends has started designing this year so I simply passed on what I have gleaned from her!

Thanks for the like! Your blog is lovely- my favourite post is the valentines slippers. They’re wonderful! I have two books you might like- Jean Greenhowe’s Jiffy Knits (They’re very simple- there’s an invisible man, a mummy and a tin of baked beans!); also a book called The Knitted Farmyard by Hannelore Wernhard. This one is so nice- I got it second-hand so it’s old. You can knit everything associated with a farm, even the fields! Amy
Thank you for the like as well!!!! Oh man, those valentine slippers were quite challenging and I was too ambitious but i’m glad they turned out! Let’s just say that I will never knit those slippers again! hahaha OHHh I’ don’t have the Jiffy Knits book and the invisible man sounds very very cute! I want to eventually collect them all!!!
Just googled the Knitted Farmyard and it’s SOOO COOL!!!!!! I want to get my hand on this book as well! Just did a library search and no copies :( Might have to find it online instead! Thank you for sharing your resources!!!!! :) :) HAPPY KNITTING!!!
Thanks for coming by to visit my blog! I’m definitely going to start following all your wonderful work, and maybe someday I’ll finally be able to knit something other than washcloths and scarves!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!! Oh, i’m sure knitting toys would be easy peasy for you!!!! I don’t have that much patient for scarves so bravo and props to you! :) Thank you for visiting as well!!!
It’s a lovely coincidence that you came by my blog the other day. Visiting yours makes me smile! I just recently purchased my first toy knit pattern and am waiting to finish my grad studies this fall, to then attempt it. It’s an Elephant called Elijah, by Ysolda Teague (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/elijah). I like giving knitted items as baby / child gifts, and toys seem like a great change from sweaters and booties! ;) I’d also like to get good enough to design my own.
Anyway, I’ll be checking-out more of your blog for some inspiration on patterns to try next! Thanks so much for sharing!
AWWWWWWWWwww Elijah is SUPER SUPER SUPER cute!!! I just recently knitted an elephant as well !!! But i’m very picky and I’m not loving how it turned out! I will most likely give it away to someone who will give it some love hehehhe
Thank you for visiting as well!!!!!!!!!!! And good luck with your studies and with Elijah!!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
You’re Welcome
This site brings back so many happy memories of my childhood. I knitted numerous Jean Greenhowe toys from patterns in my mum’s Woman’s Weekly. I think I looked forward to the magazine as much as mum did…!
I love Jean Greenhowe’s toys and just can’t get enough of them! Do you still knit toys now? :)
Not really. I am focusing on knitting my own clothes – as I get increasingly angry at the poor quality of knitwear in shops – and baby clothes for my friends’ newborns. I do have a copy of a pattern for a tomcat that I want to try out. Maybe something I can make for the next newborn…
Amazing knitted toys. Thanks for the “like” on Troy Cat Cards.
Thank you for visiting!!!!!!!!!!
I’m def gonna start making toys once I get over my doily obsession :) Thanks for visiting my blog and for introducing me to yours.
